Our Ornamental Tree and Shrub Pruning Service usually begins after the 4th of July holiday. Our crews will hand prune, as needed, to maintain growth, provide increased air flow within plant material and encourage the natural characteristics of plant material in a managed setting. Generally the following is performed during an annual pruning visit:
- Selectively prune new top growth as needed to control and maintain the growth of the plant.
- Selectively thin plants that grow more aggressively from season to season or that have a branch structure that is visually beneficial in the landscape. Thinning heavy or dense growth also increases air flow within a plant thus reducing disease outbreaks.
- Trim existing hedges as needed to maintain growth and vigor. We will continually hand prune hedges unless the client directs the account manager that a formal hedge should be maintained by use of a power trimmer.
- Dead, dying or heavily diseased branches and twigs shall be pruned from all plant material as needed.
- All hard surfaces shall be blown clean prior to leaving the site.
- Inspection of the job by the account manager and submission of the signed Quality Assurance Report.
- WEEDING: Weeding and clean up of the mulch beds is included as a part of pruning only if a client has agreed to the first of the three weeding and maintenance visits. This is because usually, by pruning time, weed growth can get out of control in mulch beds and require extra time not included in the time estimated during the pruning and trimming service. We reserve the right to charge an additional fee for weeding should a client choose to opt out of the early summer maintenance service. Your account manager will notify you of the additional charge prior to your pruning visit.
