Weekly Lawn Mowing Services
Weekly Mowing Services Expanded Description:
Weekly lawn mowing services begin in late April or early May, depending on how quickly the soil temperatures warm. Our cutting teams will generally show up on the same day each week to service your property. If inclement weather throws our schedule off, the days may be different in the weeks going forward until we can get our schedules back on track. Generally, our crews will perform the following tasks during weekly mowing services:
- Mow all lawn areas using professional, well maintained commercial mowing equipment with sharpened blades.
- Trim all areas not accessible with mowers ie: bed edges, around established shade trees, along fences, rock outcrops, lampposts, along stone walls etc.
- IMPORTANT: Our crews are instructed to NOT trim around ornamental & newly planted trees that have grass growing up against the trunk. This is to eliminate the damage that power string trimmers can do to the bark of young trees. Stripped bark on the trunk of a young tree due to power string trimmers will eventually result in the death or severe decline of the tree. We recommend that all newly planted trees that are located within a lawn area have a minimum of 12” of grass removed from around the trunk area to avoid damage from power equipment.
Using the power string trimmer, vertically edge grass periodically along mulch and garden beds to maintain crisp and clean edges.
- Power blow all hard surfaces before leaving site.
- Replace to its existing location any lawn furniture, hoses or other items that had to be moved in order to mow the lawn. If you have hoses with timers attached to the spigot, please let your account manager know this so we can put the notation on the route sheet. Our crews are instructed to coil up hoses in an area off of the lawn (generally in the mulch bed) if there is no hose reel or hose rack attached to the house.
- MOWING DAYS: It seems that most people care to have their lawn cut towards the end of the week, which we can understand. Unfortunately, everybody can’t be cut on a Friday. Clients who sign on with full Land Care agreements, meaning, have us provide all maintenance services listed here, will have priority over end of the week service. Beyond that, we have to be fair and give priority to those clients that give us more business annually than those that just have us cut and do a clean up. Please specify on the contract if you have a preferred mowing day so we may accommodate you as best as possible.
- GRASS CLIPPINGS: Our crews will generally collect grass clippings and remove them off site to a composting facility. If you prefer to compost your grass clippings, please let your account manager know this ahead of time so he can instruct the mowing crews to leave the clippings in the appropriate area.
- RAIN DAYS & WET GRASS: At times, we are forced to mow when the grass is wet or when it is raining. This generally occurs in the spring if inclement weather dominates the weather pattern. As a rule, we will not mow during periods of heavy rain or torrential downpours. Our crews are instructed to be extra careful when lawns are water soaked so as not to damage turf when turning heavy mowing equipment. We will do our best to only mow under the best conditions possible. Despite what you may have heard, there is no harm to turf grass by mowing when it is wet. Additional time and energy is needed to mow a wet lawn but there is no damage to the turf as a result of mowing during wet conditions.
